thankful for – yerba mate

Yes, I'm enjoying mate (pronounced like /mah-tay/) this afternoon. It's a gray winter day here in the Upstate, reminiscent of a rainy winter day in Uruguay, so I'm doing what any Uruguayan would do to keep warm – I'm drinking mate!


Only recently did I become aware of the alleged health benefits of yerba mate. For me, drinking mate is what Uruguayans do – and what my own daddy did and still does every morning in Uruguay – and it is probably the single best way to be identified as an uruguayo or uruguaya.

    That sounds yummy! I just read the article about you and your family that was written for EMU. :) It was so much fun to be at my desk in the church office and to open the mail and see more about what the Lord is doing in your lives.
