“Happy 15th Birthday, Jonatán!”

How we love this young man! We’ve been reminiscing about so many tender and humorous moments of the last fifteen years...
Ten years ago he was ring bearer in our wedding! (But next week he’ll have to shave his moustache when he starts ninth grade!)
A little over four years ago, God answered his prayers (and those of Marcos, his brother) for a cousin – from Uncle John Mark and Aunt Deborah...
Like his father Esteban before him, he’s quite the athlete. His soccer team, the Cavaliers, won their intramural championship – two years in a row!
We appreciate his tender heart and love for his family.

Most of all, we appreciate Jonatán’s tender heart toward and love for the Lord Jesus Christ, His Savior.
None of us would ever have imagined that he would be spending most of his 15th birthday (Monday, August 10, 2009) at the hospital, undergoing a biopsy procedure to confirm what the doctors suspect – that the tumor growing in his upper left arm is osteosarcoma.
But Jonatán’s desire and that of his family is that God be glorified in everything.
Would you please pray with us...?
- For Christ to be exalted through this trial and our responses (Ephesians 3:14-21; Romans 8:26-39).
- For others to come to know Christ as personal Savior (Romans 10:9-13).
- For complete healing for Jonatán (2 Thessalonians 1:11-12; Matthew 7:7-11).
- For grace, strength, and wisdom for Jonatán and his immediate family – his father, mother, and 10-year-old brother, Marcos – and for comfort and grace for extended family, especially those in Uruguay (Psalm 84:11-12).
We are and will be praying. It seems like not so long ago that I visited you in Lima and he was a baby! Remember? :o) He is such a young man now. Please greet Esther for me.
