In a conversation
about the importance of developing good habits, struggling as adults with
habits formed as children and so on, I confessed to E and DJ that I still
struggle with habits formed early on.
“But!” I said. “Daddy’s
practically perfect in every way!”
DJ protested: “But
only people who are already in Heaven are perfect!”
He grinned, pleased to be showing that he had correct information. (JM and I couldn’t
help smiling behind our coffee cups.) Before we could laugh out loud, DJ said with great sincerity and serious thoughtfulness:
“But Daddy’s pretty
good, though!”

Truly a heartfelt compliment!
And this evening, as we were sharing another laugh over it all, I reminded JM to consider the (extremely frank and unsophisticated)
source! This is the Little Man who confessed to me (in a conversation about sacrificial love) earlier this year:
“When I give you flowers, it’s because I don’t need them...”
awww that is too sweet! I love these little moments. And the flower comment - priceless! :)
ReplyDeleteYep! I'm still smiling over that one... ;)
