Sonidos Serranos

Sonidos Serranos: Sounds of the Sierras...
Reflecting some of my family's interests: God's wonderful creation (especially mountains and hills!), music, and language...

Psalm 121:1-2 (NASB)

I will lift up my eyes to the mountains;
From where shall my help come?
My help comes from the LORD,
Who made heaven and earth.

Easter in Autumn!

Just a little cultural note... J

This is a sample of what getting out to church on Easter Sunday can look like in the Southern Hemisphere, where it’s autumn in late March or April...

We don’t necessarily dress in our best – especially on a rainy day when we have to take the bus and then walk a block or so on the gravel right next to the asphalt highway to get to the church...

Little (Big!) Memory!

While the three older kids practiced reading the verses before the special number, DJ (unbeknownst to us!) memorized them! He surprised us one evening, shortly after returning from camp, by reciting them from memory!

I’m remembering E’s delighting us with her memorization skills when she was almost three years old!

And I’m now going to be setting new memorization goals for both!

A few more photos from camp!

I’ve already posted a few pictures from this summer’s family camp, but here are a few more favorites from the CD of “official” photos:

Say: “Cheese!” Or better yet: “¡Tallarines!” J

DJ shared a creative moment with Tía Julia…

We love our fútbol – on all levels!

We’re thankful for the camp ministry!

Then & Now...

These gems showed up in my fb memories yesterday, making me feel very nostalgic...

When E saw them, she exclaimed: “He has the same face!” J

And when I posted the collage, I noticed that one of the pictures from camp this summer echoes one of those...

Back to School!

The summer is officially over; the 2016 academic year has begun! J

The rental car was a “luxury” for the first two days
– especially for program logistics and taking supplies;
normally we’ll ride the bus or walk to and from school.

Our resident 5th grader and K-5 student are both excited.
At least so far… J

Pray for me! The lessons learned as a family during last school year are very present in my mind and heart. And I’m thankful for those lessons! Our Loving Shepherd carried us faithfully through HIS (perfect!) plan for our family. And I learned so much about His love and faithfulness! I know I can look forward – with biblical confidence – to what this 2016 academic year holds.

I’m trusting our Loving Shepherd to carry us – once again...

Do pray specifically for us!
