Sonidos Serranos

Sonidos Serranos: Sounds of the Sierras...
Reflecting some of my family's interests: God's wonderful creation (especially mountains and hills!), music, and language...

Psalm 121:1-2 (NASB)

I will lift up my eyes to the mountains;
From where shall my help come?
My help comes from the LORD,
Who made heaven and earth.

Denali National Park & Preserve!

On Tuesday of last week, we visited Denali National Park & Preserve. Truly a privilege!

Our Loving Shepherd gave us perfect weather – not to be taken for granted, especially at Denali! We enjoyed more details of the wonders of creation than we had on our previous visit.

The snowshoe hare came up to me as I was photographing the caribou! And the ground squirrels kept popping out of the rocks around us, chattering at each other and at us as E and DJ stopped along the trail to complete the Junior Ranger Activity Books.

We saw creatures great and small!

Caribou  at close range!

Dall Sheep  specks, moving on the mountainside!

Grizzly Bear – and Cub?!

Moose  on the way out of the park!

In our rush to go see the Grizzly, we cut short our “hike” and didn’t take time to recreate the picture from our previous visit on the Savage River Trail... (Maybe next time!)

But we actually did get a good view of Denali – “The High One!” – on the horizon! We’re told that only 30% who come to see North America’s tallest mountain actually get to see it.

20,310 feet tall!

Family Note: On the drive from Fairbanks, the back seat grew quiet.

Yep! A picture truly is worth a thousand words!
Sums up our physical state at this point in travel!

On the way back to Fairbanks...

We stopped for ice-cream…

Enjoyed an extended Alaskan sunset...

11:25 pm (AKDT)

Saw multiple rainbows...

10:50 pm (AKDT)

And watched the full moon rising over the mountains on the horizon!

11:49 pm (AKDT)

SO much beauty! SO much to be thankful for!
