Six weeks ago we returned from an almost six-week (work and
study) trip to the Carolinas. Thankfully, we managed to squeeze in some “fun times” with extended family in both SC & NC as well as on a whirlwind three-day trip to
Jacksonville.
Before any more water slips away under the bridge, I’m going to pause to cherish those moments and to let snapshots share our memories...
Our trip got off to a great start in MVD when both E and DJ got to help move the baggage along the conveyor belt!
DJ was also invited into the cockpit on that first flight! Wow! So many buttons and levers! A Little Mechanic’s dream! I now wish I had snapped a picture. At the moment, however, I was amazed and thankful that he was even being allowed in...
As far as DJ was concerned, this was his first time flying; he doesn’t remember the other five times. (And I don’t remember flying when I was only two years old either...)
The air was very clear over FL and VA...
But it was predictably hazy over the Carolinas!
On our way out (after our second flight), DJ marched into the cockpit and told the pilots that he’s going to be a mechanic one day!
He’s a funny Little Man!
We caught up (at least a little bit) with friends & family...
¡Somos siempre Celestes!
And watched some Copa América games...
(And talked a lot about the dire need for fair play!)
And experienced some high culture
And I enjoyed a Mommy-Daughter Date with my Little Lady!
We also enjoyed lots of yummy food... (Maybe too much yummy food?!)
And we celebrated The Fourth of July...
I’m amazed at how much momentary happiness $5 can buy...
We had some adventures along the way...
PaPa & Grandma took E & DJ to The Children’s Museum.
E & DJ both got haircuts by Ms. Teresa – our favorite hairdresser!
(This was E’s “Half-B-Day”
present.)
And we worked in a three-day trip to Jacksonville...
E & DJ were fascinated by the anoles on Los Abu’s porch.
We all dressed up like cows in order to get free chicken!
And we got to wade in the North Atlantic!
And we enjoyed the outdoors and the beauty of God’s creation...
Summer thunderstorms are fascinating!
We love the drive – through the mountains – to NC!
DJ thoroughly enjoyed his cousin’s tricycle!
And E learned how to ride a bike in one day!
We also worked – very hard and for most of the almost six weeks. JM took a block course (toward the D.Min program). And I wrote and administered a final exam (online for our students back in Uruguay) and organized and packed (and repacked and reorganized) belongings still in SC... (Those aren’t Kodak Moments!?!)
And we’re very thankful for those of you who read our updates – and pray for us and for the ministries God is giving us here in this corner of His Kingdom!
